• Spaces become available as children leave kindergarten for school. This means your child may be offered a spot around their third birthday, but not necessarily the day they turn 3 years. A limited number of spaces are available for children aged from 2.5 years.

• Children should be toilet trained and able to use the toilet independently before starting kindergarten.

​

• Your child’s identification (passport or birth certificate) and immunisation records are required for inspection on or before their first day of attendance.

​

• Each child has an individual portfolio that includes stories, photos, artwork and staff observations of your child during sessions. This helps us plan programmes to aid their future learning and development. The portfolio is yours to keep when your child leaves, as a record of their time spent at Howick Baptist Church Kindergarten.

• You will need to provide your child with morning tea, lunch and a 'sipper' water bottle. Please note we are a nut- and nut-product-free centre. • Once a term, children are allocated a time to share 'news' at group time. This is an opportunity for your child to bring a favourite item to 'show and tell' or talk about an event that is important to them. This builds confidence as they have the opportunity to speak and answer questions about their news.

• We plan an excursion every term, based on the children's interests. Parents are invited along to keep a better adult-to-child ratio and to offer an opportunity to meet other parents/caregivers and get to know the staff. Siblings are unable to attend Kindy excursions.
